Decades of combined development experience enabled Sol Barket and his former partners to acquire the Montgomery Ward Corporate Complex in the summer of 1999. The 31-acres of land and 2.6 million square feet of empty buildings had been neglected for many years. An experienced team of developers, architects, engineers and planners was assembled to create a vibrant master plan for this new Chicago neighborhood. The vision was to transform an area long considered blighted into a dynamic urban neighborhood where people could live, work and play. The master plan created 13 separate development parcels linked together through streetscape improvements, landscaping, public parks and open spaces.
